Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Bareback Pads, Soft Saddles, and Super Slim?
The Ranger and Westy Soft Saddles are built on the same base and inner support system as our Ranger and Westy Bareback Pads. The difference is that the Soft Saddles come standard with a stirrup package and a full cantle seat.
The full cantle seat features leather across the entire top of the seat and a foam wedge cantle for additional support. The base, inner core support system, and seat padding are otherwise the same as their Bareback Pad counterparts.
The Super Slim Bareback Pad is built much like the Ranger Bareback Pad, but without the additional ½" contoured seat padding. The Super Slim is a one-color panel pad, while the Ranger Bareback Pad can be customized with one, two, three, or four colors.
How do I choose the correct wither relief?
Trailmaster Bareback Pads and Soft Saddles can be made with different amounts of wither relief to better accommodate your horse’s shape.
Low: For horses with very little wither or an almost flat topline.
Medium: For horses with average or moderately defined withers.
High: For horses with prominent or high withers that need more clearance.
When choosing, consider the angle of your horse’s back and withers. Example photos are provided below to help you compare the different options.
It is better to have more wither relief than your horse needs than too little, which could put excessive pressure on the withers. If you are unsure which option to choose, please consider adding Adjustable Wither Relief.
